5 Clothing Trends to Look Out For in 2025

Clothing

Fashion is one of those things that is ever-evolving. It never stays the same, and every year, we see new trends arising. And although “staying on trend” doesn’t necessarily mean you’re fashionable or not, it helps to know what trends are emerging and what to look out for.

That way, you can decide for yourself whether you want to embrace these trends and possibly even look younger while doing it. There is no rule about who can follow trends or not. Whether you’re over the age of 70 or not, there’s no rule about who can embrace clothing trends. Here are some that you might want to consider trying out this year.

Sustainable Fashion

Whereas once upon a time, fashion was all about buying the latest and greatest brands and emerging styles, fashion is now all about being sustainable. Upcycled fashion is not only fashionable but also necessary if we hope to preserve the planet.

Eco-conscious fashion is all the rage, and in 2025 you’ll be seeing more and more brands push further into the upcycling realm. From biodegradable fabrics to zero-waste production methods, the fashion industry can expect to see more sustainable fashion trends in the next year.

Gender Fluidity

The boundaries between what makes a man a man and a woman a woman are starting to become blurred. The fashion industry will most likely be following suit, selling more unisex clothing, oversized fits, and designs that embrace gender fluidity. We’ve already started to see runways highlighting pieces that prioritize comfort and self-expression over traditional gender norms in the past. Celebrities like Billie Eilish have set the tone for this gender-fluid look, making it trendier than ever to embrace androgyny.

Statement Coats

Outerwear is going to be bold this year and more expressive than ever. From big, bright puffer jackets to sculptural blazers, statement outerwear is going to be on the rise. Bright colors, crazy designs, and innovative textures will definitely be trending this year, so make sure you hop on the trend if colors and patterns are your thing.

Y2K Revival

The Y2K revival is not going anywhere anytime soon. Runways are still embracing this early 2000s aesthetic with a high-fashion modern twist. Metallic fabrics, baggy jeans, and crop tops are all over the place, yet in 2025, we might see these looks with a little more elevated twist. Think modern tailoring and better materials. Futuristic is in, so don’t throw away those old platform shoes and silver jeans just yet.

Wide-Leg Pants

Say goodbye to those skinny jeans and embrace wide-leg pants. Whether it’s a pair of slacks or jeans, wide-legged is in, and fitted and skinny is out. This is great news for people who never liked the skinny jeans look in the first place!
